Today is the day. After months of playtesting, countless bug reports from the community, and a lot of late nights, Checkpoint64 is officially live on Steam.
Why Steam?
We've been offering standalone builds for a while, but Steam is where the games are. By launching on Steam, we're making it easier for everyone to keep their saves safe, synced, and versioned without having to hunt for the latest installer.
If you've been using the playtest build, thank you. Your feedback helped us nail down the edge cases in modded Minecraft, emulator memory cards, and those weirdly-named save folders that some games love to use.
What's new in 1.0?
The 1.0 release isn't just a label. We've packed in some major improvements:
- One-click game discovery. The app now scans your Steam, GOG, and Epic libraries to automatically find your saves.
- Improved diffing. See exactly which files changed before you commit to a restore.
- More presets. We now support over 100 games and emulators out of the box.
- Discord integration. We're working on adding support for Discord integration.
Whats next?
We are only getting started. Here's what's coming next:
- Steam Deck support. We're optiming the UI for the Steam Deck, making it the perfect companion for your portable library.
- Epic Game stores.
- More game support. We're expanding our library to include more game support.
- Optimizations. We're working on improving performance and stability.
The Deal remains the same
Even though we're on the world's biggest storefront, our philosophy hasn't changed. Checkpoint64 is still:
- Free for everyone who just needs the basics.
- Buy once, own forever. No subscriptions. If you want the Pro features or more space, it's a one-time purchase.
- Local first. Your data is yours. We just help you manage it.
Thank you
To everyone who wishlisted, playtested, and shared their "I lost my 100-hour save" horror stories, this launch is for you. We're just getting started.
See you on the next checkpoint.
